Brief Biographical Summary
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) was a German composer and musician whose works are often considered the pinnacle of Western classical music. A devout Christian, Bach dedicated his compositions to the glory of God, inscribing “Soli Deo Gloria” (To God alone be the glory) on many of his manuscripts.
Fun fact: Bach’s compositions include over 200 cantatas written for weekly church services, many of which are still performed in worship settings today.
