Are You Standing Firm in Faith?

Faith in Christ calls for action. It is not enough to acknowledge truth; you must live by it. Wilberforce’s fight against the slave trade was driven by his conviction that faith requires obedience, even when the cost is great. When you see injustice, sin, or compromise, standing firm in faith means choosing God’s truth over comfort or indifference.

Are there areas where you have been passive when God is calling you to act? Stand boldly for what is right, even when it is difficult. Seek His strength to faithfully walk in obedience, so when world comes against you, you can stand firm.

"Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain."
— 1 Corinthians 15:58

Brief Biographical Summary

William Wilberforce (1759–1833) was a British politician and devout Christian who dedicated his life to ending the transatlantic slave trade. His faith drove his relentless pursuit of justice.

Fun fact: Wilberforce’s efforts led to the passing of the Slave Trade Act in 1807, and just days before his death in 1833, slavery was abolished in most of the British Empire.
